NOTICES
Remembrance Sunday today is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, an Act of Remembrance will take place at the Old Steine War Memorial from 11am (arrive by 1055). The Salvation Army Band will be accompanying the service led by the Archdeacon of Brighton with other faith leaders including the Bishop of Chichester and our own Archbishop of Selsey.
Hub Drop-in as usual this Wednesday from 0830-1300 volunteers always welcome to serve and greet our homeless guests. With the cold weather now upon us, donations of warm clothes, thermal socks and underwear, scarves and gloves etc are desperately needed.
Nursing Home Ministry if you would like to share worship with residents, there are two dates on Sunday’s this month, in Handcross, November 11th 2.30 and in Worthing, November 18th 11am, leaving directly after the 0830 Mass. The service lasts about an hour and residents really appreciate meeting new people, help finding the hymns and somebody to pray with.
Small Groups Big Mission Training The Clarendon Centre, Wednesday, November 14th from 1pm small group training in order to equip students to take a lead in building community where God’s love is central, igniting faith is normal, reaching out creatively is a priority, and developing leaders to facilitate growth is critical. The training is based on the 4 parts of the workbook: real community, real faith, real creativity and real growth. Tickets
Celebrating Faith Event Sunday November 18th at Hove Town Hall, 2-6pm with stalls from local Faith groups, charities and communities. At 3pm the Faith Covenant, an agreement between the City’s Council and Faith Communities will be signed by Faith leaders including the Archbishop of Selsey and the Bishop of Lewes. The Brighton & Hove Faith in Action Annual General Meeting will take place at 5pm.
A Taste of Christmas the Sunday, November 24th 6.30pm at Brighton Congress Hall, the All Aloud Community Choir present their popular annual seasonal show. Tickets £5 available from the Community Cafe and Shop.
Young People’s Consultation for the BHFA’s Combatting Faith Hate Partnership, Tuesday, November 27th 4-6pm at St Paul’s Church, West Street. An opportunity for young people of faith, particularly of Years 7 & 8 to share their experiences of being people of faith in the school environment. Free bus tickets and pizza will be available!
RENEW & REVIVE Personal Holiness from Advent Sunday, December 2nd our new programme and mission of Christian renewal and revival for the city will begin. The Chapel will be open Monday to Friday 0700-0900 and 1700-1900 for quiet prayer, to enable people to and from work to spend time with God. On Wednesdays, 1800 Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by a Fellowship Supper and a Conference discussing Christian discipleship.
Christingle Service, 4pm Sunday, December 16th this year marking the 50th anniversary since the Children’s Society held the first Christingle service in this country. Please invite as many children as you know!
Churches Together Carolling this annual opportunity for local Christians to come together in the commercial centre of the city to witness to “the reason for the season” accompanied by the Salvation Army Band fundraising for the Christmas Appeal. Thursday, December 20th, 5.30pm Churchill Square outside The Prince of Wales tavern.
