Sacratissimi Cordis Domini Nostri Jesu Christi

On the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the faithful gather to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass, lifting their hearts to adore the Heart that has so loved men and is so little loved in return. As the sacred liturgy unfolds, the Church contemplates the pierced Heart of the Saviour, source of infinite mercy and furnace of divine charity. The Epistle speaks of the boundless love of Christ which surpasses all knowledge, while the Gospel recalls the wound opened by the lance, from which flowed blood and water—the birth of the Church and the sacraments. The faithful approach the altar with contrite hearts, receiving in Holy Communion the same divine Heart that burned with love upon the Cross. This most tender feast renews our trust and reparation, reminding us that in the Sacred Heart we find refuge, strength, and the wellspring of every grace. In this holy offering, we are drawn into the inner life of the Redeemer, and learn to make our own hearts meek and humble like His.
