Easter Day

Easter Sunday, in the pre-1955 Roman Rite, is the radiant culmination of the Sacred Triduum, in which the Church proclaims with triumphant certainty the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the definitive victory of life over death and grace over sin, celebrated in the solemn Mass Resurrexi with its exultant Gloria and repeated Alleluia, now restored after its Lenten silence; the liturgy, rich in Paschal symbolism, presents the empty tomb and the astonishment of the Apostles, while the Church, no longer veiled in mourning, is clothed again in splendour, and the faithful, united to the risen Christ through baptismal grace, share already in the promise of new life, so that what was accomplished in mystery during the Vigil is now openly declared: Christ is risen, truly risen, and in Him the whole order of creation is renewed.
