Our Mother, the Church, is imbued with the word of Christ, and is admirably represented by the three measures of meal, which the energy of fermentation wholly leavened and by the mustard tree, the greatest of its kind, where the birds of heaven are glad to find shelter. May the “leaven” of the doctrine of Jesus pervade and transform our souls! Jesus, our Redeemer, is God. He works wonders. The Angels of Heaven, Jews and Gentiles will be obliged to recognize His royal Divinity.
St. Paul focuses in his epistle to the Thessalonians on how the word of God produces in the hearts of Christians the wonders of faith, hope and charity. And in the Gospel, Jesus reveals to us “things hidden from the foundation of the world” with parables of the three measures of meal and of the mustard plant.

EPISTLE 1 Thess. 1:2-10
Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Thessalonians. Brethren: We give thanks to God always for you all, continually making a remembrance of you in our prayers; being mindful before God our Father of your work of faith, and labor, and charity, and your enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. We know, brethren, beloved of God, how you were chosen. For our Gospel was not delivered to you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much fullness, as indeed you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the word in great tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became a pattern to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. For from you the word of the Lord has been spread abroad, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God has gone forth, so that we need say nothing further. For they themselves report concerning us how we entered among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God, and to await from heaven Jesus, His Son, Whom He raised from the dead, Who has delivered us from the wrath to come.
GRADUAL/ALLELUIA Psalm 43:8-9
You saved us, O Lord, from our foes, and those who hated us You put to shame. V. In God we gloried day by day; Your name we praised always. Alleluia, alleluia. Ps 129:1-2 Out of the depths I have cried to thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my prayer. Alleluia.
GOSPEL Matthew 13:24-30
At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to the crowds: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men were asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. And when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then the weeds appeared as well. And the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ And the servants said to him, ‘Will you have us go and gather them up?’ ‘No,’ he said, ‘lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will say to the reapers: Gather up the weeds first, and bind them in bundles to burn; but gather the wheat into my barns.’

PREFACE of the Holy Trinity
It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY…
