Lenten Observance
The Oratory commends to its brethren the availability to fulfil the three pillars of Lenten observance; Prayer, Fasting and Corporal Works of Mercy, through its apostolates and liturgies. A “What’s On” for the week will be published on Sundays on this blog detailing weekly liturgies and activities.
This Blog will have daily posts on the Stational Churches and on any Saints days. To see the blog posts for any given day, simply use the Calendar on the right-hand side, click on the date of the day you want and those day’s posts will be displayed.
The daily Mass will focus on the Ferial observance of Lent in the liturgy, the lessons and prayers expressing the hope and desire of Holy Mother Church for the faithful to be faithful to God, who is faithful to us! After the Post-communion prayers, a “Prayer over the people” is offered particularly for our perseverance during Lent. During this period, Saints days will generally only be commemorated and a brief biological sketch provided during the homily which will otherwise reflect on the lessons of the Ferial Mass.
Every Monday at 7.30pm CARITAS an ecumenical study/discussion group, this year reflecting on the Letter of St James, first Bishop of Jerusalem (d.62AD) and kinsmen of Our Lord, at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church led by the Provost.
In addition to the daily Mass at the Annexe Sanctuary offered at 8am and 6pm, on Friday evenings at 5pm and Saturday mornings at 9.30am, Stations of the Cross will be offered. An opportunity to spiritually experience and meditate upon the final moments of Our Saviour’s Passion and ultimate act of Redemption.
