Easter Sunday Mass

Easter Sunday dawns with radiant joy: Christus resurrexit! The tomb is empty, death is vanquished, and the light of the Resurrection dispels the shadows of sin and sorrow. In the ancient Roman rite, the day begins with the solemn celebration of the Resurrection Mass, rich with alleluias restored after their long silence. The Gospel recounts the women at the tomb, the angel’s proclamation, and the first stirrings of faith in the risen Lord.

The liturgy overflows with triumph: white vestments, the Paschal Candle ablaze, incense ascending in praise. The Sequence Victimae paschali laudes is sung, a chant echoing across the centuries with the witness of Mary Magdalene: “Christ my hope is arisen!”

Having passed through the Passion, the Church now rejoices with her risen Spouse. Easter Sunday is the feast of feasts, the day of eternal victory, the cornerstone of Christian joy. The faithful exult, not only in a past event, but in the living promise of resurrection and new life in Christ.
